Getting Older

Ha ha,
I’m not that old. But still considering how education has changed since I was in school. With the fast advances of the Internet age, which was non-existent in my school years.
I had to figure this stuff out by myself.
I’m 48 years old. Fairly educated, with a High School, Military Education in the Medical Lab environment, Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration through a local Trade School. Self Taught Professional Roofer. As well as a lot of years of hands on experience in the maintenance and building and grounds fields.

While watching the Network News today, I saw a story mentioning that today is the 30 year anniversary of the day that Ronald Reagan was shot.

I Have had what I think is an interest life while growing up.
For example, I was on Cocoa Beach at Patrick AFB on July 16, 1969 as a 6 year old kid. The launch of Apollo 11 is one of my best historical memories.
30 years ago today, I was 18 years old living on Bolling AFB in Washington DC. I had graduated High School at 17 and decided that instead of choosing a career, I would stay with my family and help with the move from Barksdale AFB at Bossier/Shreveport City in Louisiana to Washington DC.
I found a job selling books for a local bookstore owner outside the BX(base exchange) of several Military bases and Posts around the near areas of Maryland, Virginia, as well as DC.
I ended up becoming the regional manager for the owner. I managed 5 bookshops in the areas mentioned above.
30 years ago today, I had just returned from my daily rounds of each store, special orders, paychecks, special needs, daily deposits, etc.
I was at the “home store” when we heard the news on the radio that Reagan had been shot.
I remember this day so clearly because, for 1. The book store in Alexandria was only a few miles from the actual event. For another, there were two bookstores on “M” Street. One in DC and one in Georgetown.
I realized instantly on hearing the news of Reagan’s shooting, that I drove right by where he was shot an hour before it happened.

There is another reason why I want to remember Ronald Reagan.

Ha ha, I voted for him the first time…

Procrastination, Holding You Back?

If procrastination is holding you back? Don’t feel alone, it effects all of us at one point or another. I know it effects me too much.

The way I deal with stuff that I don’t like and know that I can change is to read. Reading about whatever the stuff might be. With the new year only a month or so ago, I have been reading a lot about procrastinating.

Following are 7 steps that might help you if you find yourself procrastinating.

1. What is it that you need to do?

Is it something that should be done now to get future benefits?

David Allen in his book Getting Things Done says, “The vaguer the task, or the more abstract the thinking it requires, the less likely you are to finish it.”

Be sure to define the task.

2. Are you focused?

Focus in anything is whats needed to get anything done. You might keep the word FOCUS, close to where you do your work. Make a sign and hang it on the wall within your wall.

3. Just do it!

Nothing is more important with any task is Getting Started. Buy a timer that goes up to one hour and set it for the amount amount of time you know that you will be focused on the task at hand. Even if it’s 15 0r 25 minutes. Everybody has 15 minutes that they can work.

4. Police yourself.

Don’t waste time chatting. Getting to know a new person is great. Shooting the breeze is a waste of time that could be used to productive work.

Rescue time, is a free online time-management tool. It can help get you back on track if your spending time checking emails or whatever.

5. Sometimes good enough is just that.

Any steps in the progression on getting the task done is a step towards completion and success. Don’t beat yourself up if you didn’t reach your goal at that time. Good enough is a great tool to keep you from quitting. Moving forward towards6. the end result, no matter how small, is still moving forward.

6. Bet on yourself.

Personally, I don’t gamble. I got this information stickK.com. You can post your own goals, and how much you will pay if you fail. You can donate any money you loose to a charity you would not normally donate to.

7. Want to go extreme?

These are a few examples of people how have gone to extreme measures to get it done.

These are a few examples of extreme measures taken by others.

An Arizona sociologist posted an embarrassing photo on Facebook until he completed a difficult task. Victor Hugo had his valet hide his clothing so he’d have to stay home and write. Demosthenes supposedly shaved half his head and refused to appear in public until it grew back, giving him more time to work.

I hope these 7 steps helped you in any way. I can tell you this with conviction, enjoy what you do and you won’t procrastinate. You will be excited and productive because you can see the end result.

I want to apologize for taking so long to respond to your comment on 2010/12/17 at 8:15 am.

A few things caught my attention. That’s why I’m writing now.

You said, “I do not like multi-level-marketing because it seems to focus more on the compensation than the product.”

I agree.

My first Network Marketing Company, and I use the term “network marketing” lightly here, I went to there official Grand Opening and fell in love with the idea of the product. It was a credit card, wallet, or purse size. There was a 2GB size USB attached to the left, top, corner that would contain your complete medical history. In case of Emergency and with the modern technology for an Emergency Room Doctor to have access to possible critical information.

I thought the idea was genius and signed immediately.

The only problem with the company was that there was no network marketing experience at the top. The training was practically non-existent.

As a complete beginner, I figured out real fast that I was not going to get real training.

I believe that network marketing is a better way. So I was not going to give up.

That’s when I ran across a a different type of Network Marketing Company.

I found that the owners/creators had over 60 year network marketing experience between them.

The up line training is phenomenal.

Although it’s encouraged that we all give presentations, there are very successful up line leaders to always be there to lend a helping hand up, and give you tremendous leverage.

Sometimes You Just Need To Take a Break

Sometimes in our work, we get frustrated.

As a online and offline

Network Marketer, I can honestly say that I sure do.

When learning new online techniques using my computer,

for example SEO.(search engine optimization.)

I feel like I’m just bashing my head against a very hard wall.

I know I have the smarts to figure it out.

It just seems that once I try and fail a couple times, I find that

wall.

It’s times like this that I have to take a break.

(Take a look at what Albert Einstein used to do to clear his mind…)

I mean I have to

change my enviornment. Even for a short time.

Here are a couple of things that I like to do and that help clear

my mind so I can start fresh.

I like to go for walks. I take walks anywhere from 1 to 3 miles

or more.

I also like to go for a bicycle ride. I have a couple different

rides I take. They are from 5 to 25 miles in length.

My walks and my bike rides are such that I end up back home when done.

Now this does a few things.

1. I end up getting some great excersize. Physio, cardio, mental.

2. I get refreshed, my attitude changes, I just feel better.

3. I actually come up with ideas! Things that may have nothing

whatsoever to do with the original frustration.

They may be about my business or about something else going on in my

life.

It’s funny how these thoughts and ideas just happen.

I mean the only

energy I put towards them is the energy I’m expending with the

activity I’m engaged in. Walking or bike riding.

I’m no psychiatrist but I think the proccess of moving, enjoying

my surroundings, being physical, allows my subconscience to take

over my brain proccess a little.

I hope something rings a bell with you in this post.

Just remember,

frustration in business is no reason to quit that business.

Change your enviornment for a little bit!

The Truth About Pyramids

“It’s a Pyramid”.

Have you ever heard that used as an excuse?

Pyramids used to have a bad wrap because of shady deals where people

would send money to someone else but not receive any goods or products.

As far as I know, those deals are scams. I can’t imagine anyone

sending cash to someone for nothing more than having your name placed

on a list where you make money off of the people who have their names

placed after yours.

The government clamped down on this practice, it regulated the network

marketing industry back in the 1970′s

The problem was that those kinds of schemes hurt the network marketing

as a whole. Because the scams made the news and a lot of people

read, listen to, and watch the news thinking they are getting the

whole story.

I will talk more about that story in a later post.

My focus with this post was to talk about pyramids, so, back to it.

It’s funny, kind of, but it’s also sad that the pyramid scam is still

an excuse that some people use for an excuse NOT to look at a

network marketing business. Even when it can legitimately help them.

Whether with the product or the business opportunity.

I actually like it when I hear that excuse. I like it because it

opens the door for me to maybe open their eyes and brain.

If you don’t already know, ask them about their job. It will either be

headed by a President, CEO, board of directors, or owner.

I paint a word picture exlaining how everything is like a pyramid.

An example in business would be President or CEO. He/She is at the top

Then one or more vice presidents under them. Then management, followed

by assistant managers. Then the team leader and finally

you and the other workers. All the way at the bottom, doing the

“work”.

Then I ask them if that sounds like a pyramid scheme? You will learn

from the answers you hear.

I know some say to move on as soon as you encounter resistance,

but as far as people using the pyramid excuse not to move forward,

I think that getting someone to see the big picture can change their

life for the better.

So it’s worth the time for me.

What Is Numismatic

Just what the heck is all this chatter Iv’e been hearing and reading about Numismatic Coins?

This blog post might clear the whole thing up a little.

MS-68, MS-69 or MS-70 are numbers you will find on graded coins.

All graded coins have been graded by whats called the Sheldon Grading Scale. This grading scale was first developed by Dr. William H. Sheldon in 1949. His book Early American Cent’s describes a grading system from 1 up to 70. Although it was originally used only for cent’s, it has since been incorperated to encompass all modern coins.

A 1 on the Sheldon Grading Scale is a very poor quality coin, you can barely tell it’s a coin at all. A 70 is a numismatically perfect coin. A 1 through 50 on the scale deals with mainly circulated coins. Or currency WITH WEAR ON IT.

60 to 70 on the Sheldon Grading Scale is for uncirculated coins. That means coins that have not been handled or used by anyone.

The American Numismatic Association uses the Sheldon Grading Scale. There are three top tier grading companies:

1. ANACS–American Numismatic Association Certification Service

2. PCGS–Professional Coin Grading Service

3. NGC–Numismatic Guaranty Corporation

These are the 3 major grading companies used worldwide for grading. If you ever want one or more coins graded for perfection, I recommend using one or more of these companies.

The Nusismatic Industry is a 100 BILLION Dollar a year industry! That means 10 or 11 Million Dollars an hour !!

There is a way for you to enjoy this fun hobby of collecting MS-70 gold and silver numismatic coin assets and also making extra money in your spare time. How many times have you seen commercials buying gold and silver?
